HOW IT ALL STARTED
OMAHAMS CORPORATION SDN BHD (Omahams Corp) was incorporated on 14 October 2004. The company only went into active business operations in early 2005 and throughout the whole of 2006 primarily concentrating on consulting services. During the second part of 2006 we were involved in image management consultancy, supply of marine coatings and smart partnership in training.
THE EARLY DAYS
Initially Omahams Corp has been involved in providing consulting services for purposes of acquiring contracts through competitive tendering of new and existing contractors. We also formed strategic partnership with service providers in education and training channelling efforts to target the Government sector. This branch of our business strategy is on-going and being actively pursued to further extend into management and leadership trainings.
In early 2007, the company went into a strategic working relationship with Jotun (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (Jotun), a leading manufacturer of high performance coatings and protections for industrial purposes, sea going vessels as well as oil & gas structures. The appointment as a business representative was mainly to assist Jotun to establish a firm footing in engaging the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) and supply of marine coatings for a period of 1 (one) year ending April 2008.
In early 2008, Omahams Corp participated in a Government tender exercise by the Ministry of Defense to supply marine costings to the RMN and by the middle of that year officially offered to carry out the contract which was to expire in 2011. The first batch of marine coatings was delivered to the RMN in August 2008.
In recognition of the company’s sterling performance in the supply of protective marine coatings to the RMN, Jotun extended our area of service to also include supply of decorative paints within the naval bases in the country. Work has started to comply the normal administrative procedures and we expect the first delivery of decorative paints to the RMN by mid 2010.
THE PEOPLE AT OMAHAMS
Omahams Corp started on a cautious note emplacing formulation of short, medium and long term strategies in charting our business direction. We cover sectors that we could excel based on the capabilities of our management team lead by our Chairman, First Admiral Dato’ Ir Hj Ahmad Murad Hj Omar (Retired). He is ably supported by the Managing Director Mohd Said Hj Omar, a former banker. Dato’ Murad is a highly qualified mechanical engineer by qualification and profession who incidentally is also responsible on the technical front and marketing while Mohd Said holding a firm grip on the overall management, operations and finance of the organization. The day-to-day operations too are backed by a team of qualified and experienced staff members in their respective fields.
MOVING FORWARD
In facing the ever growing and complex needs of the oil & gas sector particularly in the field of design of naval architecture and marine engineering services, Omahams Corp has recently formalised a strategic collaboration in the line of providing expert technical and professional services in ship designs and engineering solutions. A ‘Collaboration Agreement’ has been signed with Maritime Technical Centre Sdn Bhd (MTC). MTC is a company owned and managed by highly trained and all-round professional and technical individuals in the field of naval architecture and marine engineering services.
Meanwhile, in the effort to extend our business network in reaching out to the wider markets we have secured several agencies and distributorships largely from overseas principals and OEMs. It encompasses a wide range of products and services mainly for the marine and oil and gas sectors and related industries.
